Thecourthassetasidetheselection lists issued in June 2020 and January 2022, which included 6,800 candidates. A division bench of the court directedthestategovernmentor theauthoritiesconcernedtoprepare a select list of 69,000 candidates for appointment as assistant teachers on the basis of ATRE-19 as per Appendix – 1 to theServiceRules,1981afresh,ignoring the select lists dated 01.06.2020 and 05.01.2022. The court also directed to carry out exercise within three months. A division passed the order while hearing a bunch of special appeals filed against the order of singlebenchof the HighCourt in March last year. While disposing of the special appeals, the court said in its order, “The state government/concerned authorities shall prepare a select list of 69,000 candidates for appointment as Assistant Teachers on the basis of ATRE-19 as per Appendix – 1 to the Service Rules, 1981 afresh, ignoring the select lists dated 01.06.2020 and 05.01.2022. We are conscious of the fact that the learned Single Judge has already quashed the select list of candidates dated 05.01.2022videimpugnedjudgment.” “After preparation of select list in terms of quality points enumeratedinRule14of Service Rules,1981,reservationpolicybe adopted as envisaged under Section 3 (6) of Reservation Act, 1994. Polling will be held in J&K on September 18, September 25 and October 1, and votes will be counted on October 4. The EC also announced the schedule for the Haryana Assembly elections — polling on October 1 and counting on October 4. On Friday, The Indian Express reported that J&K and Haryana would go to polls together.
